IEA SEASON IS HERE!!
What: Concord Equestrian
Center IEA Team is open to Middle and High School aged riders. We offer English
and Western styles of riding. English riders compete in Equitation on the Flat
and over fence classes. Western Riders compete in Horsemanship and Reining. ALL
of the classes in IEA are grouped based on riders experience level ie:if a
rider is a first year lesson student they would be placed in a class with other
first year riders. This helps level the playing field for riders! Each rider
get the chance to show to 5 judges to accumulate points to move on to the
different levels-regionals, semi-finals and nationals!!
When: The season runs from
September-July. With the season starting in September we would like ALL IEA
members to have their rider membership completed by August 15. Each rider will
have to take 1 weekly lesson ($35 per lesson) to be a member of the team.
Each rider is
required become a member of IEA ($60). To complete this membership form you go
click on membership and fill out the rider membership form. You HAVE TO pay for
the membership online (via paypal or credit card) and print the form. YOU MUST
bring the form to Jessica to finalize the form and send to IEA. Please text
Jessica at 740-361-9411 if you have ANY questions while filling out the form.
New for the 2018/2019 season due to the rising cost of
having a team, hosting shows and providing horses for the program, to be on the
CEC IEA Team you will have a team due of $125. This cost covers team membership
($570), official CEC IEA Team Polo and team show hosting costs ($140
application fee, doesn’t include horses, prizes, etc). Each season the team is
responsible for hosting 1 western show and co-hosting 2 english shows.
Show expenses: Each rider
will compete at 5 shows, at each regular season show their class cost will be
$40 each. The coaching fee for each show will $75 per show. Cost of coach hotel room and if long distance
travel (over 100 miles) is necessary, will also be split amongst each rider
competing at the show. Most of the shows are within an hour or two and do not
require a hotel or travel expense.
Where: IEA Shows are held
throughout Ohio with regionals being local. Semi-finals and Nationals are
usually out of state events that change yearly. IEA show dates will be given as
soon as they are available for the season. We communicate via email frequently
so please make sure your email is up to date.
No rider needs to own a horse.
Classes are offered in four ability levels: beginner, novice,
intermediate, open. Any combination of ability levels on a team is permissible,
but it is advantageous to have at least one rider in every class to be
competitive as a team.
Riders in grades 6-8 are eligible for Middle School Teams while
riders in grade 9-12 compete at the High School level.
Points are tracked for individual rider accomplishments AND for
overall, team accomplishments. Individuals and teams earn points to qualify for
regional, zone and national finals.
Teams take turns hosting horse shows throughout the season. New
teams are NOT required to host any shows. Second year teams are required to
co-host at least one show. Teams in their Third year or additional years must
host one show or co-host two shows per year.
The competition season starts September 1st and ends at the
National Finals in late spring / early summer.
Students ride horses that are furnished by the host barn and
chosen by random draw. The use of personal tack is not allowed and limited
schooling is permitted. This equalizes competition variables and tests the
horsemanship of the contestants.
